Miley Cyrus grabbed her first No. 1 record on the Billboard 200 chart in more than ten years. Bass Persuades debuted on Sept. 18, and it landed on top of the list. The project opened with 61,000 albums in the United States.
This marks her sixth No. 1 record. It's also her 16th top 10 entry when you count releases under both Miley and Miley Cyrus, plus the Hannah Montana soundtrack albums from her Disney days. Cyrus last reached the top with Bangerz in Oct. 2013.
In the first week, album sales made up 47,000 units. SEA units contributed 14,000. Sales got a boost from 16 vinyl variants, nine CD variants, six download options, and one cassette.
The singer announced Bass Persuades on Sept. 1. On Instagram, she wrote, "Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That's what the title means to me."
The title track came out on Sept. 3 as the first single, hitting No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Sept. 19. That's her 24th top 40 hit. This new album arrived just over a year after her previous studio project, Something Beautiful. It debuted at No. 4 on the June 14, 2025, Billboard 200 and stayed there.
Cyrus was the third act in 2026 to wait at least ten years between No. 1 albums. Bruno Mars and A$AP Rocky did it earlier this year. Mars returned to the top spot on the Mar. 14 chart with The Romantic, 13 years after Unorthodox Jukebox ruled in March 2013. A$AP Rocky got to No. 1 on the Jan. 31 chart with Don't Be Dumb, over ten years after At.Long.Last.A$AP hit No. 1 in June 2015.
The race was tight. Ella Langley's Dandelion is at No. 2 on the latest Billboard 200 with nearly 61,000 units, up 1 percent from the previous week. Riley Green scored his first top 10 with That's Just Me at No. 3, earning 60,000 units.
Cyrus will perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles for two sold-out nights on Oct. 16 and 18. Ticket pre-sales created wild demand. Nearly 1.5 million fans joined the queue for the shows, according to The Music Universe.
