Sheryl Crow had plenty of reasons to celebrate on Monday night.

The nine-time Grammy winner received the 2026 BMI Troubadour Award during a private ceremony at BMI’s Nashville office on September 14, and the organization pulled together an all-star lineup to make the occasion unforgettable.

Olivia Rodrigo, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Melissa Etheridge, Eric Church and Lauren Daigle all took the stage to perform songs from Crow’s celebrated catalog. The evening also featured congratulatory messages from stars including The Chicks, Brandi Carlile, Kenny Chesney and John Oates.

It was less an awards ceremony and more a musical love letter to one of American music’s most enduring singer-songwriters.

Jason Isbell Kicked Off the Musical Celebration

The evening began with another fitting choice.

Jason Isbell opened the musical tributes with Crow's 1993 debut single, “Run Baby Run.”

Melissa Etheridge followed with her take on “If It Makes You Happy,” giving the ceremony an appropriately rock-heavy start before Church, Daigle, Stapleton and Rodrigo continued the musical journey through Crow's catalog.

The performances highlighted just how much ground Crow's songwriting has covered throughout her career.

Chris Stapleton Puts His Spin on ‘I Shall Believe’

Stapleton also helped turn the night into a showcase of Crow’s songwriting.

The country superstar performed “I Shall Believe,” one of the songs from Crow’s extensive catalog. BMI noted that Stapleton performed the track after praising Crow as both a songwriter and a friend.

Stapleton wasn't the only country heavyweight paying tribute.

Eric Church performed an acoustic version of “Leaving Las Vegas,” while Lauren Daigle tackled “Everyday Is a Winding Road.”

Olivia Rodrigo Delivers a Surprise Tribute

Rodrigo provided one of the evening’s biggest surprises.

The pop superstar closed the performances with a rendition of Crow’s “Strong Enough,” bringing a younger generation of music fans into the celebration of Crow’s decades-long career.

The moment also added another chapter to the musical connection between the two artists. Rodrigo and Crow previously shared the stage at the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where Rodrigo performed with Crow.

Sheryl Crow Receives a Gibson J-45

Crow ultimately took home more than the prestigious Troubadour Award.

BMI also presented her with a Gibson J-45 guitar to commemorate the honor and her impact on the creative community.

The award places Crow alongside a notable group of previous Troubadour Award recipients, including John Fogerty, Billy F. Gibbons, John Hiatt, Robert Earl Keen, John Oates, John Prine and Lucinda Williams.
