Lady Gaga’s fans have called her Mother Monster for years. Now, the pop superstar has officially stepped into the role for real according to multiple reports.
The singer and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, have welcomed their first baby together, a source reportedly shared with PEOPLE.
According to Page Six, who was the first to report the news, the family of three was spotted out and about together for the first time in Northern California.
The arrival marks a major new chapter for Gaga, who has spoken openly for years about her hopes of becoming a mother. While fans know her for huge performances, award-winning music and some seriously unforgettable fashion moments, Gaga has also made it clear that family has always been part of her bigger picture.
Gaga Has Wanted to Be a Mom for Years
Back in December 2019, Gaga talked about her 10-year plan in a YouTube video and said she hoped having “babies” would be part of her future.
“I want to do more movies, I want to have babies,” she said at the time.
A few months later, Gaga opened up even more about motherhood during a March 2020 interview with InStyle. She explained that becoming a mom was something she was genuinely excited about and reflected on the incredible experience of carrying and raising a child.
“I will say I am very excited to have kids,” she said. “I look forward to being a mom. Isn’t it incredible what we can do? We can hold a human inside and grow it. Then it comes out, and it’s our job to keep it alive.”
Gaga also joked that she had already experienced a version of motherhood through her relationship with her fans. Her longtime nickname, Mother Monster, has been a major part of her connection with the Little Monsters who have supported her throughout her career.
“It’s so funny — everyone works out of my house every day. When they come in, I always say, ‘Welcome to the Womb!’ ” she quipped.
Apparently, Gaga has been preparing for this title for quite some time.
Motherhood Was Her “Next Starring Role”
More recently, Gaga said she hoped motherhood would become the next big role in her life.
During an October 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she talked about the many possibilities ahead of her but made it clear that becoming a mom was especially important.
“I would like to do many things,” she said of her future plans during an October 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “All of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”
Now, that role has reportedly arrived.
For Gaga, becoming a mother comes after years of balancing an enormous career with her personal life. She has built a reputation as one of pop music’s biggest stars, but she and Polansky have generally kept their relationship away from the constant spotlight.
Gaga and Polansky’s Love Story
Gaga and Polansky were first linked in 2020 after they were photographed kissing at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas. Not long after, the couple made their relationship Instagram official when they were spotted showing plenty of affection during the 2020 Super Bowl weekend in Miami.
Since then, the pair have mostly kept things low-key. They have continued supporting each other’s work while avoiding making their relationship a daily headline.
In July 2024, Gaga revealed that she was engaged to Polansky while speaking with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a TikTok posted by Attal at the time, Gaga could be heard introducing Polansky as “my fiancé” as the trio watched a swimming event together.
Their engagement added another milestone to a relationship that had largely unfolded away from the cameras. Now, welcoming their first child gives the couple an even bigger reason to celebrate.
For Gaga, the moment also brings a longtime dream full circle. She once talked about babies as part of her future, later described motherhood as something she was excited to experience and eventually called it her hoped-for “next starring role.”
After years of being Mother Monster to millions of fans around the world, Lady Gaga now reportedly has a much smaller audience member to call her own.
