A live-to-film concert series featuring Wicked: Part One will begin at Radio City Music Hall on Jan. 23, 2027. A preview show will take place on Jan. 16 in San Francisco. The tour will feature screenings accompanied by a full symphony orchestra performing the score in sync with the movie.

Universal Film and Universal Destinations & Experiences developed the concert series in collaboration with Hurwitz Concerts, which has produced live orchestra tours for La La Land and Whiplash since 2023. This marks the first time that Hurwitz Concerts will produce a concert tour for a film not scored by Justin Hurwitz.

The orchestra will perform songs by Stephen Schwartz while the film is shown on an HD screen. "When I've seen live concerts of film scores, I've always found it an amazing experience, so I'm delighted that the Wicked movies are now becoming film concerts, especially under the expert direction of Oscar-winner Justin Hurwitz and his talented team," said Schwartz, according to Yahoo! Entertainment.

"I absolutely love the live-to-film format and think the Wicked films are so perfect for it," added Hurwitz. "It's an honor for me to help bring Stephen Schwartz's masterpiece musical and John Powell's brilliant, cinematic underscore to concert venues around the world."

Jon M. Chu directed the film adaptation. Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba. Ariana Grande stars as Glinda. Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bode round out the cast. Songs include "Defying Gravity," "Popular," and "For Good."

The San Francisco preview will happen at the Orpheum Theatre. The city hosted the original stage musical's world premiere tryout at the Curran Theatre in May and June 2003.

Other tour stops include Chicago on Jan. 30, Mexico City on March 6, Guadalajara on April 17, Monterrey on April 24, Toronto on May 29, Montreal on July 17, and Vancouver on July 24. More cities and dates will be announced later.

A separate concert series for Wicked: For Good will come later. Tickets are available at wickedinconcert.com.
