Miley is heading back to the stage, and fans are making it very clear they have been waiting for her return.
Nearly 1.5 million fans entered the presale ticket queue for the 33-year-old singer’s newly announced Hollywood Bowl shows on Wednesday, Sept. 9, setting a record for demand ahead of her two-night return to the legendary Los Angeles venue.
The concerts, scheduled for Oct. 16 and 18, will mark Miley’s first major performances since she played the Corona Capital music festival in Mexico City in November 2022. The massive ticket demand comes just days before the release of her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades, which arrives Sept. 18 via Atlantic Records.
For an artist who has spent years moving between pop, rock and country influences, Miley's return is already shaping up to be a major moment. And apparently, fans are not interested in waiting around to see what happens next.
Miley’s New Era Is Already Making Noise
Miley announced Bass Persuades on Sept. 1, sharing a personal explanation for the album’s title.
“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong,” the star wrote on Instagram. “Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album. ❤️ Miley.”
The song takes aim at a screen-filled world, with Miley encouraging listeners to put down their phones and get back on the dance floor. Its nostalgic lyrics reference being “glued” to a phone and missing the days of discovering music through MTV.
The accompanying music video, directed by longtime collaborator Mert Alas, takes that message and turns it into a full-on dance party.
Miley Is Dropping Her Last Name
The album announcement also introduced another noticeable change. The singer is releasing the project under just her first name, Miley.
Her father, country star Billy Ray Cyrus, is fully on board with his daughter’s new era.
After the “Flowers” singer announced the album, he shared a throwback photo of himself with his daughter and her younger brother, Braison, along with a message comparing her one-name era to legendary artists who have gone by a single name.
“I mentioned Dolly and Cher. Thinkin about it more and more … Elvis .. Prince …and so on,” he wrote. “It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues ! Looking forward to the new album.”
So, according to Billy Ray, Miley joining the one-name club is not just a branding move. It is the latest step in her evolution as an artist.
Miley Is Finally Taking the Hollywood Bowl Stage
The upcoming Hollywood Bowl shows also have a personal meaning for Miley.
“It’s been a while. The Hollywood Bowl is my favorite place to experience music and see my favorite artists,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ve sat in those seats many times, but I’ve never taken the stage. LA is my heart and I’m bringing it home. See you there. ❤️ Miley.”
That makes the October performances more than just a comeback. Miley will finally get the chance to perform at a venue she has spent years visiting as a fan.
MODEL/ACTRIZ is set to join her as the special guest for both dates.
General tickets go on sale Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. PT, with Ticketmaster listing a four-ticket limit for the general sale.
With nearly 1.5 million fans already rushing the virtual line, Miley's Hollywood Bowl debut appears to be one of the most anticipated live music events of the fall. After all, if that many people are willing to fight their way through a ticket queue, the audience is clearly ready to welcome Miley home.
