This week, the CSRA offers a full slate of ways to get outside, give back, and connect with the community. Runners can tackle the mud and obstacles of the Fort Gordon Marine Mud Challenge, families can get up close with police cars, fire trucks, and more at Meet a Machine, and food lovers can settle in for a countryside evening at the Farm to Table Dinner. Round out the weekend with live music from Sister Hazel, a volunteer day at Phinizy Swamp, and a show at Flowing Wells Theatre.

Fort Gordon Marine Mud Challenge

  • What: Muddy 4-mile obstacle run benefiting Fort Gordon families
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, with a competitive start at 8 a.m. and a noncompetitive start at 8:30 a.m.
  • Where: Fort Gordon, 19th Street and Barnes Avenue, Fort Gordon
  • Cost: Competitive $65, noncompetitive $60

The Fort Gordon Marine Mud Challenge Presented by 5-Star Nutrition returns to Fort Gordon with a 4-mile off-road course featuring more than 30 obstacles, a stream crossing, hills, and, naturally, plenty of mud. Runners register individually and are electronically timed; competitive categories are reserved for athletes aiming to complete the full course. Participants must be 13 years of age or older, though the age requirement can be waived with parental approval. Old clothes and closed-toe shoes are recommended, and a change of clothes is a smart idea. All proceeds benefit Fort Gordon service members and their families, and volunteers are needed for race-day support.

Meet A Machine

  • What: Hands-on machine meetup benefiting Golisano Children's Hospital
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Where: Augusta Regional Airport, 1501 Aviation Way, Augusta
  • Cost: Adults $5.49; children 12 and under are free

Meet a Machine returns to Augusta Regional Airport, giving families an up-close look at police cars, fire and rescue trucks, helicopters, an airplane, a garbage truck, and more, courtesy of local public service agencies and businesses. Attendees can climb aboard and explore the vehicles firsthand in a hands-on, kid-friendly setting. All proceeds benefit the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia's Children's Miracle Network, making the event as much a fundraiser as a community celebration of the people and machines that keep Augusta running.

Farm to Table Dinner - September 2026

  • What: Farm dinner and talk on natural healing
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Where: Scott Family Farm, 432 Barnhart Drive, Waynesboro
  • Cost: $70 per person or $130 for a two-ticket set

The Wisdom of Food hosts its Farm to Table Dinner at Scott Family Farm in Waynesboro, offering a countryside evening of local food and conversation. Dr. Priya Deshpande, a cancer survivor specializing in integrative and culinary medicine, will discuss the body's natural healing process and the practical ways nutrition and lifestyle support wellness. Chef Lashawndra Robinson prepares a seasonal, farm-fresh four-course menu paired with four wines and a signature mocktail. Garden City Jazz provides live music, and guests take home a gift from local herbalist King's Mortar & Pestle.
