If you were hoping to catch Kevin Parker outside a hotel, hand him a record and walk away with a fresh autograph, you may want to rethink the plan.
The Tame Impala frontman is asking fans to give him some space when they spot him in public. Parker is currently traveling across North America as part of the Deadbeat Tour, but he has decided that some of the usual fan interactions need to stop.
In a series of Instagram Stories posts shared on Monday, Sept. 7, Parker explained that he will no longer sign autographs or take photos with fans outside hotels or at airports. The reason has less to do with fans themselves and more to do with what he says has become an increasingly aggressive autograph-hunting scene.
“Hey guys quick PSA to say due to the rise of aggressive autograph hounds I won’t be signing anything or doing photos out the front of hotels or at airports at all anymore, so if you happen to catch me please don’t be offended if I say no,” began the “Dracula” artist.
Apparently, the autograph game has gotten a little too serious.
“I wasn’t that passionate about it before but they’ve started using kids which I think is all kinds of wrong,” continued Parker. “Love you guys.”
Parker followed that message by sharing a screenshot of a Google search about “autograph hounds and professional memorabilia collectors.” These collectors can sometimes work together to track down information about a celebrity’s schedule and whereabouts.
For Parker, that kind of organized effort appears to have changed the situation. What might seem like a simple request for a signature can become something much bigger when people are actively tracking where an artist will be.
No More Parking Lot Meetups
Parker also addressed another way he has connected with fans during the tour: meeting them after shows.
In a follow-up Instagram Stories post, Parker continued, “On that note... wanted to let you know that I won’t be coming out after shows to meet fans in the parking lot for the time being.”
For a while, the post-show meetups were something Parker was willing to do. He said he had been meeting fans after shows “for a while in Europe but the numbers were getting out of control and we don’t have the security to manage it.”
That created another problem beyond simply having a large crowd waiting outside a venue. Parker also pointed to “the obvious security risk.”
“So my team has asked me not to,” added the musician. “So please have the best time at the shows and get home safe!”
It is a pretty simple request: enjoy the concert, respect the boundaries and make it home safely. The autograph can wait.
Parker Is Still on the Road
The decision comes while Tame Impala is in the middle of an extended touring run. The Deadbeat Tour kicked off in October 2025, with the North American leg continuing until Sept. 20. Parker and the band are then scheduled to take the tour to Australia and Europe, with shows continuing through July 2027.
The tour supports Deadbeat, Tame Impala’s fifth studio album, which was released in October 2025.
The album has already given fans plenty to talk about, including the global hit “Dracula,” a collaboration with Jennie. Another track, “End of Summer,” picked up a major honor when it won Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
So while fans can still see Parker performing onstage, the days of catching him outside the venue or airport for a quick photo or signature appear to be over, at least for now.
And honestly, if the choice is between getting an autograph and giving an artist enough space to feel safe, Parker seems to be making it pretty clear which one he prefers.
