Swamp Rabbit Yard Sale Set for Sept. 11-12 Across 46 Miles in South Carolina

The second annual Swamp Rabbit Yard Sale will take place Sept. 11-12. It spans 46 miles of South Carolina backroads. Seven towns participate, from Batesburg-Leesville down to Springfield. Leah Shackleford, who sits on Salley Town Council, put together this two-day event.

Batesburg-Leesville anchors the northern tip. Springfield marks the southern end. Squeezed between them sit Fairview Crossroads, Seivern, Wagener, Perry and Salley, each hosting its own sales.

Shackleford works on the Salley Town Council and started this whole thing back in 2026. This year's sale stretches farther than the first one did.

"It's a good time of year to get out and take a ride and just see the beauty of ... the counties that these towns are in," said Wagener resident Carolyn Rushton, per The Post and Courier.

Hours run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Sellers will have their wares out during those times.

A railroad once connected these towns, which is where the name comes from. It operated from the late 1800s into the early 1900s. Up in Greenville, there's a trail called Swamp Rabbit Trail with the same kind of history.

This setup copies another sale called Peach Tree 23, which happens every June. That one winds through towns in Aiken, Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick and Saluda counties, following SC 23.

Rushton helps spread the word about the September sale. The participating towns sit in different counties throughout the area.

People living on the 46-mile route will set out items to sell. Shoppers can drive through over the weekend, hunting for bargains.
