Orangeburg Set to Triple Economic Impact With 2027 Coach Pitch World Series

Orangeburg unveiled its logo for the 2027 Diamond Youth Baseball World Series. The tournament will draw 72 teams to this South Carolina town next summer. Officials predict the event will pump three times more money into the local economy than the 2024 Coach Pitch World Series did.

Boys between 9 and 12 will compete across two weekends. Thousands will show up from 11 states.

A hometown squad will play in Division one and two Triple-A Minor League, Majors, and "O" Zone. This marks the second time Orangeburg has welcomed a major youth baseball event to its fields.

City Administrator Sidney Erving said, per WIS News 10, the tournament will deliver substantial rewards. "The impact will be undoubtedly huge. You think about the thousands of family and friends that will be joining these young people. They'll be staying over two weeks. So from accommodations to restaurants, we'll all see a community-wide benefit," Erving said.

The 2024 Coach Pitch World Series brought in about $1.4 million. The 2027 competition? Officials project around $4.2 million flowing to shops, diners, and services throughout town. Families will stick around longer because games span multiple weekends.

The logo launch signals that planning has started for next summer. Squads from all corners of the region will descend on Orangeburg to battle for the championship.

Youth baseball competitions have turned into moneymakers for towns during warm months. The two-weekend setup lets families book their visits around game schedules while spending dollars at nearby shops and services.
