Falcons Install New Screen Game for Bijan Robinson as Team Prepares for Week 1 Opener

The Atlanta Falcons have installed fresh screen plays to get running back Bijan Robinson involved through the air. This comes as the squad gears up for their September 13 matchup at Pittsburgh. Head coach Kevin Stefanski and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees are implementing various screens that can stretch horizontally.

"A couple new screens," said Robinson per Falcons.com when asked about new ways his coaching staff is getting him the ball. "We've been doing the same kind of screen the past year, which has been effective. I love us having to add more screens, and screens that can go across the play. There are just so many things that we can do with that scheme."

Robinson wrapped up the 2025 season with a franchise-record 2,298 yards from scrimmage. Robinson's talent was a major reason Stefanski took the head coaching job.

Rees is installing additional gap and power schemes to pair with the revamped screen attack. Offensive line coach Bill Callahan will help construct an offense that positions quarterbacks under center more often while blending zone and gap rushing schemes.

Questions linger at quarterback with Michael Penix Jr. recovering from a knee injury that cut short his 2025 campaign. Penix won't suit up in the preseason finale against Miami after taking part in just three full practices. Tua Tagovailoa has been splitting first-team practice reps with Penix throughout camp.
