Augusta Regional Airport Shuts Down Lot A for Three-Month Expansion

Augusta Regional Airport closed Long-Term Parking Lot A on Tuesday. The lot will stay shut for three months while crews work on repairs and expansion. During this time, 350 parking spots won't be available.

Why the work? Air travel has grown, and more people need places to park. When construction finishes, Lot A will reopen with 50 extra spots.

This is just the start. The airport plans bigger changes over the next two years, adding about 250 public parking spots through several projects.

Travelers still have options. Long-Term Lots B and C remain open, along with Short-Term Lot D and the credit card lot. Should those fill up, temporary overflow lots on airport grounds will handle the extra cars. Signs will point drivers to these backup areas.

Parking in overflow lots costs less. People pay by scanning QR codes posted there.

Staff will be stationed around the property when flights are busy. They'll help drivers find spots. The airport is providing maps.

Airport officials suggest alternatives when you can swing it, such as getting someone to drop you off, or using a rideshare, taxi, or shuttle. Cars left in wrong spots might get towed or moved.

Plan ahead. Give yourself extra time to find a spot and walk to the terminal.
