North West may have grown up in one of the world’s most famous families, but she has a surprisingly ordinary job in mind. The 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West says she wants to work at Starbucks when she turns 14.
North shared the unexpected plan during a recent interview with Dazed. When asked what she would do if she were not an artist, she said she still wants to work.
“I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year,” North said. She added that she thinks she can start working when she turns 14 because she wants to experience having a “regular job.”
North West Is Already Building a Music Career
The Starbucks plan comes as North continues to develop her own career in music.
North released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, in May 2026. The six-track project gives listeners a look at her perspective as a young person growing up in the spotlight. She has also performed live, including a solo appearance at the Summer Smash Festival in Chicago.
Despite her interest in a more traditional job, North made it clear that music remains important to her.
During the Dazed interview, she pushed back on advice to wait before pursuing her career. She described music as something she enjoys and wants to make part of her life.
She Has a Very Busy “Perfect Day”
North also offered a glimpse into how she likes to spend her time.
Rather than taking it easy, she said she likes getting things done. Her ideal day could include rehearsal, time in the recording studio or a major performance.
“I don’t like to rest a lot. I like to get stuff done. So maybe just going to rehearsal, and then going to the studio... that’s a perfect day," said West. "Or having a big show would be the most ideal day.”
North Wants to Experience a Normal Teen Life
North’s Starbucks comments stand out because of her unusual upbringing.
She has spent much of her life in the public eye as the oldest child of Kardashian and West. Yet her comments suggest she also wants some of the everyday experiences that come with being a teenager.
A regular part-time job could give her a chance to work with people outside the entertainment world and earn money through a traditional job.
For now, though, North has plenty on her plate. She is balancing her growing music career with school, family life and the intense attention that comes with being part of the Kardashian-West family.
Whether she actually ends up behind the Starbucks counter remains to be seen. But if North gets her way, the world could soon see one of entertainment's most recognizable teens trading the spotlight for a green apron.
