Joe Jonas has performed in front of plenty of screaming fans, but during the Jonas Brothers’ recent run at Madison Square Garden, one fan’s sign left him especially confused.
On Saturday, August 22, the Jonas Brothers played their third and final Burning Up Tour All Over Again show at MSG. The concert brought Kevin, Joe, and Nick back to the setlist from the original 2008 Burning Up Tour before the brothers moved into songs from their 2019 reunion and beyond.
The show even included their latest single, “Listen When Sad,” ahead of its official release on Friday, August 28.
But early in the concert, Joe noticed a fan named Julie holding up a sign that read, “Husbands have no clue about Round 2! HELP US TELL THEM.”
Julie had a pretty simple message behind the sign. She wanted the Jonas Brothers to help tell her husband that she had scored tickets to a second show at MSG that weekend.
Joe, however, appeared to have a completely different idea about what “Round 2” meant, according to a fan video posted.
“He doesn’t know?” Joe asked her. “What? You were here last night? Okay. How would you like to tell him?”
At that point, things took an unexpectedly hilarious turn.
The fan handed Joe her phone, and the singer explained, “Her husband doesn’t know about number 2. The good kind. We’re gonna get this figured out real fast.”
In the fan video posted, Joe then tried to call Julie’s husband, Dillon, so he could deliver the big news himself. There was just one problem: Dillon apparently had no idea why Joe Jonas was calling him.
Dillon kept hanging up.
Joe found the situation “confusing,” especially when Julie’s daughter and son answered the FaceTime call before Dillon hung up once again.
With the phone call clearly going nowhere, Joe decided to make a video message instead.
“Hey Dillon, what’s up? It’s us, the Jonas Brothers … I just filmed your kids and just wanted to let you know: you’re having another one! And pick up your damn phone. Congratulations.”
That certainly would have been one way to reveal a pregnancy. Fortunately for everyone involved, that was not what was happening.
Julie later cleared up the misunderstanding on Instagram, confirming that she was not expecting another child.
“Not pregnant. Husband officially knows where I was. Joe was confused. And I have officially peaked,” she captioned her post.
Joe seemed to take the whole situation in stride.
“We’re all confused but at least we are confused together [handshake emoji],” Joe commented on the post.
So, instead of helping Julie reveal a second pregnancy, Joe accidentally announced a second Jonas Brothers concert to a husband who apparently just wanted to know where his wife had been.
The mix-up made for a pretty memorable moment during what was already a special weekend for the band. The Jonas Brothers originally announced the Burning Up Tour All Over Again as a three-show residency at Madison Square Garden. They have since expanded the celebration into a 45-city North American tour marking the band’s 20-year anniversary.
The tour officially kicks off on Sept. 25 at Boston’s TD Garden and will travel through major U.S. cities before wrapping up on Dec. 21 at Newark’s Prudential Center.
For Julie, though, the biggest surprise of the weekend may have nothing to do with the setlist. She got her second MSG show, her husband finally learned where she had been, and Joe Jonas got a story he probably will not forget anytime soon.
