Jonas Brothers Surprise Fans With New Song “Listen When Sad”

The Jonas Brothers just gave fans another reason to be excited about their new tour.

During the opening night of The Burning Up Tour All Over Again at Madison Square Garden on August 20, Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas surprised the crowd with their brand-new song, “Listen When Sad.”

The song will officially be released on Friday, August 28.

“Listen When Sad” taps into the sound and nostalgia of the Jonas Brothers' early years. For the new track, the brothers reunited with longtime producer John Fields, who worked with them during their early career. The collaboration marks their first studio work together since 2009.

The song also draws from the emo and alternative music that influenced the brothers when they were growing up.

“We’ve tapped back into a sound that was kind of the sound of the early 2000s,” Nick said to the crowd. “To be honest, that was heavily inspiring to us. Bands like Switchfoot, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional. We re-teamed with the producer of our self-titled album, A Little Bit Longer, and Lines, Vines and Trying Times.”

That makes the new track a perfect fit for a tour built around the band's classic era.

The Jonas Brothers kicked off their tour with three sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden.

The first night featured a full set inspired by the original Burning Up era, including fan favorites such as “Burnin' Up,” “S.O.S.,” “Lovebug” and “Year 3000.”

The show then moved into music from the brothers' more recent career.

Then came the surprise: “Listen When Sad.”

What started as a special run of Madison Square Garden shows has grown into a 45-city North American tour.

The Jonas Brothers will take The Burning Up Tour All Over Again across the U.S. and Canada, bringing their classic hits and newer music to fans throughout the fall.

The tour is already shaping up to be a major nostalgia trip for longtime Jonas Brothers fans.
