Niall Horan Wants Fans to Help Pick His Tour Setlist

Choosing a concert setlist sounds like a dream job, but for Niall Horan, it has become a little overwhelming. With four albums to pull from, the singer-songwriter has plenty of songs to choose from. Now, he is asking his fans to help make some of those tough decisions.

Horan is preparing to launch the U.K. and Europe leg of his Dinner Party: Live on Tour next month. On Tuesday, Aug. 18, he turned to social media with a simple request: Tell him what you want to hear.

“Lovers! I’m almost done with the tour set list but it’s gotten so much tougher,” wrote Horan in an Instagram Stories post. “So I need your help.”

The musician shared a link to a website where fans can pick songs from any of his four albums: 2017’s Flicker, 2020’s Heartbreak Weather, 2023’s The Show and 2026’s Dinner Party.

That gives fans plenty of choices, whether they want an older favorite or one of Horan’s newest songs.

There is one important catch. One Direction songs are not part of the voting options. Still, Horan has performed the band’s 2014 hit “Steal My Girl” live a couple of times this year, so fans have not completely lost hope of hearing a familiar One Direction tune.

The website also asks fans to name the show they are attending and provide an email address. The submission page explains why Horan is looking for some extra help.

“With four albums, it’s becoming harder and harder to build a setlist,” reads a note on the submission page. “Help let Niall know which songs you want to hear!”

For longtime fans, it is a chance to have a small part in shaping the concert before they even walk through the doors.

Horan's latest album, Dinner Party, arrived in June. The album produced three singles: the title track, “Little More Time” and “End of an Era.”

With four full albums now in his catalog, Horan has a lot more material to work with than he did earlier in his solo career. That is exciting for fans, but it also makes deciding what stays in the show a much bigger challenge.

Horan previously talked about the problem while teasing his upcoming setlist in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“You could go on forever. Four albums is fun to work with, though,” he said. “You could probably see where it’s going based off the last one. You can see which songs are starting to disappear. Some of them might make a reappearance.”

That last part should get fans thinking. If a song seems to be disappearing from the setlist, there is always a chance it could suddenly return.

Horan also explained that he has been experimenting with different songs and combinations while putting the show together.

“I kept gaps in the set list and threw songs in and out. It’s funny how songs that you wrote on the first album match up to songs on this album in a weird way and could go next to each other in a set list,” added Horan. “I like to take people on a bit of an up and down rollercoaster throughout the gig, obviously come out with a bang.”

In other words, fans should expect more than just a straight run through the biggest hits. Horan wants the concert to have its own rhythm, moving between different moods and energy levels.

And after all that planning, he seems pretty confident about what is coming.

He continued, “If I was a fan, I’d be very excited.”

Fans will get their chance to see whether that confidence pays off when the Dinner Party: Live on Tour shows begin. The U.K. and Europe leg runs through November, followed by a series of Australian shows throughout February. Horan will then kick off the North American leg in March.

For now, the setlist is still taking shape, and Horan has handed fans a little piece of the decision-making. The only question left is whether they choose the songs he expects or throw a few surprises into the mix.
