Backstreet Boys Contribute Ed Sheeran Co-Written Track to ‘Paw Patrol’ Film, Add New Year’s Vegas Shows

The Backstreet Boys released their new track, "Bottle Up," on the Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie soundtrack. Ed Sheeran and Savan Kotecha wrote it alongside the band.

Nick Carter brought his three kids to the Aug. 2 Los Angeles premiere. Odin, 10, Saoirse, 6, and Pearl, 5, watched with their dad. 

"When my son was born in right around 2016, that was the first show that we watched," Carter, 46, told PEOPLE. "And then we bought all the toys. And so, year after year, every season we would be watching it." 

The film stirred up "tons of emotions" for Carter, who shares the children with his wife, Lauren Kitt Carter.

Carter's not sure "if they even understand" their dad has a song in the movie. "They know that who we are, but I don't know if they understand really what it's about right now. They're still so young. For us, it's just emotions, tons of emotions."

A.J. McLean said that moments like these still catch the group off guard after three decades. "It's still surreal to me when we hear our songs on the radio, even though we've been doing this for three decades," said McLean, 48, to PEOPLE. "To be sitting in the theater at the premiere and hearing the song in the movie, it's just cool."

Brian Littrell became the first dad in the band when his son, Baylee, arrived in 2002. Now 51, Littrell watches his 23-year-old son chase his own dreams. It "caused a little beef ," Littrell said to PEOPLE.

Kevin Richardson remembered the confusion. "We'd be in Stockholm, Sweden, and it'd be the last day recording, and we're all going out to have a big dinner celebration to celebrate the finishing of the album, or whatever," he said. "And Brian was like, 'I'm out,' on the first plane back."

“And we all didn't get it until we had kids,” added Richardson.

Baylee tried out for the 23rd season of American Idol in early 2025. He made the Top 20. The April 21 episode sent him home.

The band is performing their Into the Millennium residency at the Las Vegas Sphere through the end of August. Three New Year's shows were added on Aug. 10, starting on Dec. 31.
