Lizzo dropped a photo on Instagram. She wore a purple metallic bikini from Yitty Swim, her brand. Sunday, Aug. 9 marked the occasion — Fat Liberation Month. The 38-year-old singer picked a triangle top with high-waisted bottoms, bows tied on each side.

"Happy Fat Liberation Month ???? calling all my ladies over 200 go outside n POP sumthin????????," the Grammy winner wrote on the post. Oversized sunglasses completed her look, and strawberry blonde curls cascaded down as she posed poolside.

Fans flooded the comments with praise. "Lizzo said confidence all month long! Love the energy. ????✨," one follower wrote. Another chimed in: "Curvalicious!!! Get it Lizzo! ????????????????."

Back in May, the musician chatted with People magazine about Yitty Swim's mission. "I want people to find a product that makes them feel good," she said. "My goal with Yitty has always been to create something that changes a person's day for the better and the way they feel about themselves when they walk past the mirror."

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit picked her as their July 2026 cover star. She told the publication she'd manifested it.

"When I was younger, I saw it and never imagined somebody with my body type would be on the cover," she told Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. "It's just incredible to see how we've redefined sexy, redefined confidence, and redefined what a swimsuit body is since I was a kid."

Finding out about the cover thrilled her. "I was super excited to do the runway show, and then they were like, 'You're on the cover...,'" she recalled. She added that she loved being a part of it.

This year brought her swimwear collection through a partnership with Fabletics. "Swimwear was always the goal in the beginning because I truly believed that we could bring some of the shaping comfort and sexiness that our shapewear had to a swim [line]," the pop star told People.

She opened up about design work. "I always like to honor my curves and my shape. The silhouette is so important to me. How are my curves? Am I flaunting them? Never want to hide them," she added.

An August 2025 interview with Women's Health U.K. brought discussions about body image. "Body positivity has nothing to do with staying the same," she said. "Body positivity is the radical act of daring to exist loudly and proudly in a society that told you you shouldn't exist."
