Augusta Tops LinkedIn List as Fastest-Growing Job Market in U.S.

Augusta, Georgia has claimed the top spot as the fastest-growing job market in the nation. LinkedIn released this finding on July 21. The study drew from user data collected between March 2024 and February 2026, pinpointing 25 growing midsize markets.

LinkedIn dubbed the city "the No. 1 emerging place for jobs and career growth" and "one of the fastest-growing hubs for cybersecurity, with a growing med tech sector and data center investment," according to Travel + Leisure.

Households here earn a median income of $55,485. Homes list at an average price of $396,195, making it the third-lowest cost on the list. Only Little Rock, Arkansas, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, offer cheaper housing among ranked cities.

"Finding the right place to build a career has become just as important as finding the right job," said Laura Lorenzetti, VP and Executive Editor at LinkedIn, in the report. "Career opportunity is expanding well beyond the traditional hubs."

The study examined metro areas where hiring factors ranked within the top 50th percentile or higher, with positive net migration over the past year. Areas with more than 2.5 million LinkedIn members were excluded to focus on smaller places that are rising in popularity.

Richmond, Virginia snagged the No. 2 spot thanks to its "expanding tech infrastructure and strategic East Coast location." Top employers? Capital One, Virginia Commonwealth University, and VCU Health. Data center investments are "flowing in from companies like Meta and Iron Mountain," LinkedIn reports.

Reno, Nevada took third place. Researchers described it as "a hub for advanced manufacturing and innovation," and home to facilities for companies like Tesla and Switch.

The remaining top 10 cities include North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota, Florida; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Charleston, South Carolina; Pensacola, Florida; Austin, Texas; Portland, Maine; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
