The Georgia Bulldogs started fall camp Wednesday. Players and coaches will grind through four weeks of August heat before game week arrives Aug. 31.

Camp is where backup players can jump up the depth chart. It's where spring standouts prove they're the real deal. The Bulldogs face Tennessee State on Sept. 5 to open the year.

Coaches already know most of what they need to know about this roster, but scrimmages and drills will continue shaping decisions. On Monday, the staff released offensive depth chart projections before turning their attention to the defense.

Another national championship hunt begins now. Players have one month to show coaches they deserve a starting spot when Tennessee State comes to Athens.

Big questions linger across the roster entering camp. Who wins the battles at linebacker? Which defensive backs separate themselves from the pack? Staff members will scrutinize every rep during August to answer these questions.

August in Georgia means brutal heat and humidity. Players will push through the discomfort as they prepare for conference battles ahead.

Depth charts on offense and defense came out this week. The defensive projections dropped two days after the offensive breakdown.

Tennessee State visits Athens Sept. 5. That opener is exactly 30 days from when camp starts, giving the program precious little time to iron out weaknesses and build chemistry.

The Bulldogs return to structured practice after weeks away. This is the last major preparation window before September arrives and games count.

Hungry players will get their shot during these four weeks. Position battles will rage. When the dust settles, some will celebrate new roles while others accept backup duties.
