If you grew up wishing your closet could pick out your outfits or found yourself saying "As if!" without even thinking about it, get ready for a major dose of nostalgia. One of the most beloved teen comedies of the 1990s is making a comeback, and this time Cher Horowitz is facing a challenge even she may not have seen coming: parenting a teenager.

Paramount+ announced Thursday that a sequel series to the cult-classic '90s teen film "Clueless" has been greenlit.

The series will see Alicia Silverstone back in her iconic role as Beverly Hills it-girl Cher Horowitz as a mom.

For fans, Silverstone's return is one of the biggest reasons to get excited. Cher became one of the most recognizable movie characters of the decade thanks to her confidence, unforgettable fashion, and surprisingly big heart. Now, viewers will get to see how that same character has grown over the past three decades.

Silverstone will also serve as an executive producer on the project, giving her a role behind the camera as well as in front of it.

Cher's Biggest Challenge Yet

A press release for the series says that it will pick up 30 years after the original film.

"Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot: She's successful in business and has mastered motherhood -- that is, until her daughter's high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel 'clueless' all over again," the press release adds.

The new story flips the original movie's perspective in a fun way. Instead of following Cher through the ups and downs of high school, audiences will watch her navigate life as the parent of a teenager. It opens the door for plenty of funny moments while exploring how much life, technology, and teenage culture have changed since the original film first hit theaters.

Familiar Faces Behind the Scenes

The sequel series is also bringing back some of the creative team that helped make the original movie a classic.

In addition to Silverstone, Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, and Robert Lawrence, who was a producer on the original film, will serve as executive producers.

Having Heckerling involved is especially exciting for longtime fans. Her writing helped make "Clueless" a cultural phenomenon, with memorable characters and quotes that are still referenced today.

Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Jordan Weiss will write and co-executive produce the project. Together, the writers bring years of experience creating popular teen dramas and comedies, making them a strong fit for updating Cher's story for a new generation while keeping the charm that made the original so memorable.

Lights, Camera, Beverly Hills

While fans will have to be patient before seeing Cher back on screen, the countdown has officially begun.

Filming for the "Clueless" sequel will begin in Los Angeles in 2027.

With Alicia Silverstone returning, familiar creative voices back on board, and a fresh story centered on motherhood and modern teenage life, the new series is shaping up to be more than just a nostalgic reunion. Whether you watched "Clueless" when it first came out or discovered it years later, Cher Horowitz is getting another chance to prove she's still one of pop culture's most unforgettable characters. And if parenting a teenager leaves her feeling "clueless" again, fans will almost certainly be happy to go along for the ride.
