Sean "Diddy" Combs is once again making news, this time because of another change to his projected prison release date. While the adjustment does not erase his sentence, it is the latest twist in an ongoing legal saga that has seen his expected release move several times over the past year.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons' website, as reported by Complex, the artist is now projected to be released on January 24, 2028.
The updated date comes months after another series of changes. Diddy was originally sentenced in October 2025 to serve fifty months on interstate prostitution convictions and was initially expected to be released on May 8, 2028.
Since then, the timeline has shifted more than once. In November 2025, his projected release date was reported to have moved to June 4, 2028. Earlier this year, it was updated again to April 25, 2028. The latest adjustment now places his projected release more than three months earlier, on January 24, 2028.
Recent Prison Incident
The revised release date comes shortly after reports that Diddy was placed in solitary confinement at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey following a physical altercation.
According to TMZ, a source claimed another inmate made a remark toward Diddy, leading to a confrontation. The source alleged the exchange prompted the music executive to take "matters into his own hands" and that he reportedly "held his own" before prison staff stepped in to separate those involved.
Prison officials have not publicly discussed the reported incident.
“We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody,” said a spokesperson FCI Fort Dix in a statement made to the outlet. “Such information would not be available for the public domain."
The Federal Bureau of Prisons also declined to comment to TMZ on "disciplinary matters, or other information regarding individual inmates due to privacy, safety and security concerns."
Appeal Still Ongoing
While serving his sentence, Diddy continues to challenge his conviction through the appeals process.
His legal team argued in April 2026 that certain “freak-off” tapes should be viewed as amateur pornography rather than evidence of sex crimes. The appeal remains under review, and no decision has been announced.
For now, the latest change only affects Diddy's projected release date. As his appeal continues through the courts, that timeline could still change again depending on future legal proceedings or prison administrative decisions.
