Beyoncé Knowles-Carter now owns all of SirDavis American Whisky. Moët Hennessy sold its share in the company, making the label woman-, family-, and black-owned.

The pair started the whisky brand in 2024 after working together since 2022 to create the product. No one shared how much the deal cost, and neither side has said why the sale happened.

"SirDavis starts its new independent chapter, after a nearly four-year transformative collaboration through creation, development, and launch," a brand spokesperson said, according to Yahoo! Entertainment. "Knowles-Carter… takes full ownership and control … She builds on the tradition of creating and running her companies, built from the ground up."

The whisky pays tribute to Davis Hogue, the singer's paternal great-grandfather. Hogue made moonshine and hid bottles in cedar tree knots when Prohibition banned alcohol across the American South.

Dr. Bill Lumsden, director of whisky creation at Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, crafted the recipe with head blender Cameron George and the GRAMMY Award winner. The whisky mixes 51% rye with 49% malted barley. It was distilled in Indiana by MGP Ingredients before finishing, blending, and bottling happened in Texas.

SirDavis launched two years ago at $89 in the US and £79 in the UK. Stores and airports in both countries stocked the drink when it came out.

Moët Hennessy spread the product to Asia's travel retail shops in April 2025. That rollout brought a web campaign featuring key opinion leaders across the region. The brand released a cocktail kit that sold out in hours. A holiday-themed pop-up opened in New York City. SirDavis also showed up at the Cowboy Carter concert tour.

Moët Hennessy cut almost 13% of its workers last summer when sales dropped. The company wants to focus on its biggest brands now, which might explain the sale. The French company posted two straight quarters of 5% revenue growth in the first half of 2026, its first back-to-back gains since late 2023.
