Travis Scott Signs First-Look Deal With Paramount Pictures, Confirms New Album on the Way

Travis Scott inked a first-look agreement with Paramount Pictures through Cactus Jack, his production company. He'll develop projects across film, TV, theater, and live shows. The Houston rapper revealed the partnership during a Wednesday, July 22 chat with Variety.

"I want to bring back amazing films, pictures and just creative good ideas," said Travis Scott to Variety. "And [Paramount's] not scared to make good ideas."

The 35-year-old musician stars in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. He plays a bard who speaks some of the opening lines. This came after he contributed "The Plan" to Nolan's Tenet back in 2020.

Josh Greenstein, co-chair at Paramount Pictures, praised Scott's vision. "Creativity emanates from every pore of his body," Greenstein told the publication. "From the way he dresses to the cars to the music to his taste in film."

Scott dropped Utopia in 2023. It shot to the top of the Billboard 200 with 496,000 total album-equivalent units during its first week, per Luminate. The project earned a nod for best rap album at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards but lost to Killer Mike's Michael.

The rapper has racked up 10 Grammy nods throughout his career. No wins yet. He wants to snag an Oscar for "When I'm Home," his work with James Blake and Ludwig Göransson on The Odyssey soundtrack.

"I still need a GRAMMY, but I would love to take home an Oscar," he told Variety. "I like to set goals, and I just want to achieve them."

Scott confirmed he's cooking up a new album, his first since Utopia dropped. "I'm working on an album right now, and that's ... amazing," he said. "And I'm constantly pushing myself to push the sonics to try to make something that I haven't made before."

Parliament, Oasis, Van Halen, Don Toliver, Raphael Saadiq, and Daft Punk are shaping his sound right now. He wants his next project to hit fans in every corner of a stadium.

His past work in film includes directing Circus Maximus in 2023 with co-directors Gaspar Noé, Valdimar Jóhannsson, Nicolas Winding Refn, Harmony Korine, and Kahlil Joseph. He starred in Harmony Korine's Aggro Dr1ft. He'll appear as himself in the upcoming Rolling Loud: The Movie alongside Owen Wilson.

The first-look agreement gives Paramount first dibs on any projects Scott develops before he can pitch them to other studios.
