Phoebe Bridgers Performs ‘Lost Boys’ on Fallon, Announces Album and Tour

Phoebe Bridgers showed up unannounced on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on July 14. She became the program's first-ever surprise musical guest. The artist played "Lost Boys," the lead single from her upcoming album, Lost Weekend, with a nine-piece band of kids from 8 to 14 years old. "In all the years, we've never done a surprise musical guest," Fallon told his audience, according to Far Out Magazine. "But tonight, we have one. ... not Mitch McConnell, I can guarantee you that."

Bridgers, Tony Berg, Ethan Gruska, Jack Antonoff, and Alex G co-produced the studio version of "Lost Boys." Her Boygenius bandmates, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, provided backing vocals on the recorded track, along with Caroline Shaw. Antonoff played electric guitar, synths, drums, and vocoder, while Bright Eyes' Nate Walcott contributed trumpet and Chris Thilo played mandolin.

Lost Weekend will arrive on Aug. 14 via Dead Oceans. This marks the four-time GRAMMY winner's first solo album in six years, following her 2020 album, Punisher.

A music video for "Lost Boys" debuted on June 26. The clip shows her riding in the back of a knight's motorcycle through suburbia and dining with a group of live-action role players. Actor Skyler Gisondo played a convenience store cashier who appeared enamored by her character.

The 31-year-old musician debuted new material at a series of surprise pop-up concerts in spring. She played a $1 show at Madison Square Garden in June. At that phone-free concert, she performed eight new songs.

The Lost Tour will begin on Sept. 14 in Indianapolis at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The 45-date arena tour will visit cities like Chicago, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Vancouver. It will continue in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe in November before concluding on Dec. 12 in Stockholm.

All shows will be phone-free. When arriving at all locations, all phones, smartwatches, and accessories will be secured in Yondr pouches that guests will keep at all times. Anyone seen using a non-permitted device during the performance will be escorted out of the venue.
