Fans packed into New York's Barclays Center on Thursday, July 9, expecting a great night with Megan Moroney. What they did not expect was a surprise visit from Benson Boone that turned the concert into a crowd-wide singalong and gave everyone two different versions of songs with the same title.

Moroney, 28, first performed her own single "Beautiful Things," which appears on her Cloud 9 album. Then she surprised the audience by bringing out Boone, 24, to perform his chart-topping hit "Beautiful Things," from his 2024 debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades.

The crowd's excitement exploded the moment Boone walked onto the stage. As soon as fans recognized the familiar song, the cheers grew even louder. Many people sang every word with Boone before Moroney joined him to perform the emotional ballad together.

After Boone left the stage, Moroney joked with the audience about the unexpected musical moment.

"Why not 'Beautiful Things' twice in one night?" Moroney asked the crowd after Boone left the stage.

Boone hopes fans see more than one hit

Boone's "Beautiful Things" has become one of the biggest songs of his career, helping launch him into global stardom. Even with its massive success, the singer has said he wants listeners to discover the rest of his music too.

Last spring, Boone opened up to Rolling Stone about what it felt like to watch the song take off.

“I mean, it’s the reason I’m here,” he said of the single in March 2025. “Like, it is the reason this year has been a big year. It’s not really a song you can half-ass, you know?”

Even after dominating streaming charts, Boone explained that he hopes fans continue exploring his growing catalog.

“I think I’m getting to the point where I just want people to know that there’s more than just that song,” Boone said. “I think I’m a little past that point. But of course I still love the song. I’m still proud of it. And I’ll be performing it for a while, so I hope that feeling sticks around.”

A sweet show of support

Boone did more than join Moroney onstage. He also showed his support by matching her in pink and wearing merchandise from her Cloud 9 Tour during the surprise appearance.

Moroney kicked off the U.S. leg of her Cloud 9 Tour on May 29 in Columbus, Ohio. The run continues through the summer before wrapping up Aug. 21 in Nashville.

She first announced the tour in December 2025, two months before releasing her Cloud 9 album. Judging by the crowd's reaction in New York, fans were more than happy to get a surprise collaboration along the way.
