Carly Rae Jepsen plans to launch a 24-track double album called Day and Night on Sept. 18 through Interscope Records. The album splits into two 12-song sections. One half focuses on daytime themes, and the other explores nighttime moods.
"On Wires" is the first single. Jepsen worked with Tavish Crowe, Kyle Shearer, Nate Cyphert, and Cole M.G.N. to create the record. Each producer collaborated with her on past projects.
According to CBC, a press release explained that each side carries distinct sounds. The day portion features "organic and raw, with live instrumentation and hints of '70s-inspired psychedelic pop." Night songs are "exploratory and intense, shifting into a sleek, synth-driven world of dance pop."
Last week, several CBC Music producers heard portions of the album, including the lead single. The work moves between different styles: live instrumentation, 1970s-inspired psychedelic pop, and synth-driven dance pop. Songs tackle joy, fear, love, anxiety, and escapist fantasy.
The Canadian singer broke through to worldwide audiences with "Call Me Maybe" from her 2012 release, Kiss. She built a catalog that includes E•MO•TION, Dedicated, The Loneliest Time, and The Loveliest Time.
Her 2015 release, E•MO•TION, packed in '80s-influenced tracks such as "Run Away With Me" and "Your Type." In 2025, she marked the 10th anniversary of E•MO•TION with an expanded edition. It added "More," "Guardian Angel," "Back of My Heart," and "Lost in Devotion."
All confirmed collaborators have prior connections to Jepsen. Tavish Crowe co-wrote "Call Me Maybe". Kyle Shearer contributed to "Julien," "Psychedelic Switch," and additional tracks. Nate Cyphert produced The Loneliest Time and other material. Cole M.G.N. co-wrote and co-produced So Right. He's also her husband.
An All Things Go NYC set on Sept. 27 will mark her first live performance of 2026. The festival appearance will happen nine days after Day and Night arrives, and it will follow the "On Wires" release.
