Pink is getting ready to take center stage on Broadway's biggest night, but before saying yes to hosting the 2026 Tony Awards, she had someone important to check with first: her daughter.
The 46-year-old singer will host the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7, airing live on CBS. While the opportunity was exciting, Pink admitted she didn't immediately accept.
“It was an almost immediate yes,” the Grammy winner told Gayle King on CBS Mornings on Tuesday, June 2. “It was a yes, but, or yes, and, let me get permission from Willow. Because this is her lane. I try to stay out of her lane.”
Willow's Broadway Dream
Pink said her 15-year-old daughter, Willow Sage, is passionate about musical theater and dreams of performing on Broadway one day. When Pink asked for her approval, Willow had just one concern.
Whether she'd get a seat.
“I was like, ‘I think so.' So here we go,” Pink, whose real name is Alecia Moore, said. “Also, I'm in a ‘yes' place.”
The "Just Give Me a Reason" singer said she has always supported Willow's ambitions and is happy to return the favor after years of touring together.
“Her dream is to be on Broadway. She is musical theater obsessed,” Pink shared of Willow. “She has followed me around the world her whole life on and off tour and I told her, ‘It's your turn. We'll follow you.' And that's what we do for our kids. We show up if we can. And I'm lucky that we can. And she's phenomenal. She's very talented.”
A Different Kind of Acrobatic Performance
Fans know Pink for her high-flying aerial stunts during concerts, and she hinted that some of those skills may appear during the awards show.
“There will be acrobatic moments, but not in the way that you would normally see me doing acrobatic moments,” she said, adding, “I know there's a harness or two.”
She also teased a massive opening number featuring an enormous cast and plenty of laughs.
“It is goofy and over-the-top and it's sort of a nod back — it'll all make sense — and there's gonna be 170 people on stage. It's gonna be so fun,” Pink said of the opening number. “And I'm an idiot from the very first moment, which was very important to me.”
Putting Broadway in the Spotlight
Pink said she wants the focus of the night to stay on the theater community, even if that means making herself the joke.
“Because I haven't been on Broadway. I know I haven't been here. I know I'm an absolute idiot. And my whole point this year is to celebrate all of you and we're just gonna have fun. We're gonna have so much fun. I'm excited,” she told King.
The host also previewed several anniversary celebrations and reunions, including performances tied to The Book of Mormon, Chicago, and A Chorus Line. She added that the show's In Memoriam segment will be “amazing.”
Why Theater Matters
Beyond the performances and celebrations, Pink hopes the night highlights the importance of arts education.
“I want theater to be available for every kid because I think more than most things, our art classes and our theater classes are the first things being stripped from our schools, and I find those to be the only places in towns and cities where kids can be goofy together and they can be in safe space and they can be fully themselves,” Pink said. “Or they can be fully something else other than themselves.”
The 2026 Tony Awards will take place at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 7. The ceremony will air live on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and will also stream on Paramount+.
