The rapper recently gave followers a sneak peek at an unreleased song, sharing a playful Instagram video on Tuesday (June 2) that showed her enjoying life on a yacht with friends, drinks in hand, and plenty of good vibes. But while the setting looked carefree, the lyrics suggested she's putting the past behind her.
In the clip, Megan raps, "All that wifey s--- is dead/Put that s--- to bed/l'ma make him beg, when I want some head."
The teaser arrives a little more than a month after Megan confirmed her breakup with Klay Thompson through a representative in a statement, as reported by Complex.
Moving On After the Split
On April 25, Megan appeared to address the end of the relationship in a candid Instagram Story, where she seemed to accuse the Dallas Mavericks player of being unfaithful.
"Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house... got 'cold feet' Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don't know if you can be 'monogamous???? b---- I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall,” she wrote at the time.
In a separate statement provided to outlet through her representative, Megan explained her decision to walk away from the relationship.
"I've made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
The former couple first went public with their romance last July when Thompson accompanied Megan to the inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation benefit gala.
Turning Heartbreak Into Music
Fans have also noticed what appear to be musical references to the breakup.
Last Friday (May 29), Megan appeared on Bossman Dlow's "Motion Party (Remix)," where she delivered lyrics that many listeners connected to her recent split.
“I ain't goin' through no phones, that s--- stupid/If I catch a n--- cheatin' on me, it's deuces,” she raps on the track, adding, “S--- strict over here, I’m a rich b----/Thought he did his big one ‘til he met the biggest.”
The new Instagram teaser, combined with those recent lyrics, suggests Megan is channeling her experiences into her music. If the preview is any indication, fans can expect her next era to be confident, candid, and unapologetically single.
